Why has the price of dry active yeast packets risen so dramatically lately? Does anyone know how you can culture and keep your own yeast?

I have noticed that all of the supermarkets have raised their prices in particular on products prepackaged in small amounts.
You could try a bulk store or by a large package at the supermarket and keep the large package in the refrigerator.
