My grandmother used to make a "cake" in a pie shell which she called Rivel Cake"

  • main ingrediant was sour milk, and between the bottom crust and cake was the most delicious caramel - not very much, just enough to give a little buttery sweetness.

I found her recipe for the "cake" part, but not the filling. Has anyone ever heard of this?
