20 minThis non-alcoholic grog is the kind of drink that warms you from the inside out on a cold evening, and it’s just as good served icy cold on a summer afternoon.
Cranberry juice, fresh orange juice, and lemon juice get heated gently with strong brewed tea and a touch of sugar until everything melds into a fragrant, ruby-colored punch.
The tea adds a tannin backbone that keeps things from getting too sweet, while the citrus keeps it bright and lively.
Pour it into glass mugs with a cinnamon stick and an orange slice for a drink that looks as elegant as it tastes.
Chef Tips
- Brew the tea extra strong using three tea bags. It needs to hold its own against all that fruit juice
- Heat everything gently but don’t let it boil, or you’ll cook off the fresh citrus flavor
- For a cold version, chill it thoroughly and serve in a stemmed goblet over ice. It makes a gorgeous non-alcoholic cocktail option
- Add a splash of rum or bourbon to turn this into a proper adult grog for holiday gatherings
