Sesame-Cheese Casserole Bread
Submitted by HellsBells
Quick no-knead casserole bread loaded with sharp cheddar, toasted sesame seeds, and a hint of red pepper. Just mix, pour, and bake for a warm, cheesy loaf in under an hour.

1 hrsNo yeast. No kneading. No rising time. This casserole bread uses Bisquick as its shortcut foundation, and honestly? It works like a charm.
You’ll beat the batter together in about five minutes, pour it into a sesame-lined casserole dish, and let the oven do the rest. What comes out is a golden, savory loaf with a nutty sesame crust and pockets of melted cheddar running through the crumb.
The red pepper flakes are optional but encouraged. That little kick of heat against the rich cheese makes this bread disappear fast at potlucks, alongside a steaming bowl of chili, or honestly just torn apart warm with butter.
Chef Tips
- Toast the sesame seeds first in a dry skillet for about 2 minutes. The nutty flavor intensifies dramatically and gives the crust a deeper golden color.
- Use sharp or extra-sharp cheddar for the biggest flavor punch. Mild cheddar tends to melt into the background.
- Don’t overmix the batter. A few lumps are fine. Overworking Bisquick batter makes the bread tough instead of tender.
