A unique bread machine loaf made with creamed corn, applesauce, cornmeal, and a hint of nutmeg and vanilla. Slightly sweet, incredibly moist, and totally hands-off.

Creamed corn is the star ingredient, giving this loaf a natural sweetness and moisture that regular bread just can’t match. Applesauce replaces the usual butter or oil, keeping things light while adding a subtle fruity depth. A touch of nutmeg and vanilla round out the flavor into something warm and almost cake-like.
The cornmeal gives the crumb a pleasant grit and that unmistakable toasty corn taste. It’s not cornbread and it’s not white bread. It’s something in between, and it’s really, really good toasted with butter.
Kitchen Tips
- Add ingredients in the order your bread machine manual recommends. Most want liquids first, but check yours.
- The creamed corn provides most of the moisture, so don’t add extra water unless your dough looks too dry after the first few minutes of kneading.
- This bread is slightly sweet, making it a great match for savory soups or chili. It also makes surprisingly good French toast.
