Barbecue Chicken
Submitted by to2LyBratty
Set-it-and-forget-it slow cooker barbecue chicken simmered in a tangy tomato, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Just 10 minutes of prep and 6 to 8 hours on low for fork-tender, saucy chicken.

6 hrsThis is the slow cooker recipe you reach for when you want dinner to basically make itself.
A whole cut-up chicken goes into the pot, gets blanketed in a quick sauce made from condensed tomato soup, brown sugar, vinegar, and Worcestershire, then cooks on low all day.
By dinnertime the meat is falling off the bone and soaked through with a sweet, tangy, herb-laced sauce that tastes like you spent hours fussing over it.
Basil and thyme add a subtle herbal warmth that lifts the whole thing above your typical slow cooker dump recipe.
Chef Tips
- Remove the chicken skin before cooking if you want less grease in the finished sauce
- For thicker sauce, remove the chicken when done and simmer the liquid on high with the lid off for 15 minutes
- Serve over rice, mashed potatoes, or shredded on buns for pulled barbecue chicken sandwiches
- This works with chicken thighs or drumsticks too if you don’t want to break down a whole bird
