1 hrsDon’t let the creepy name scare you off. These crunchy almond cookies are a traditional European treat, shaped into finger-thick ropes and cut into stubby little “legs” before baking.
The secret to their light, crisp texture is beating the egg and sugar together for a full 20 minutes until the mixture is thick and foamy.
With just four simple ingredients and a long shelf life of up to two months, they’re a smart choice for Halloween cookie tins or holiday gift boxes.
Kitchen Tips
- Beat the egg and sugar mixture the full 20 minutes; this creates the airy structure that makes them crisp, not dense
- Roll the dough gently on a very lightly floured surface; too much flour makes them tough
- Store in an airtight container and they’ll keep their crunch for up to 2 months
