1 hrsWant to make your cocktail party guests feel fancy without spending hours in the kitchen? This is how.
Softened cream cheese gets beaten smooth, folded with sour cream, caviar, fresh dill, diced purple onion, and a squeeze of lemon juice.
Chill it, top with finely chopped hard-boiled egg right before serving, and watch it disappear.
It looks like you fussed, but the whole thing takes about 15 minutes of actual hands-on work.
Pro Tips
- Use red or black caviar depending on your budget and the look you’re going for; both work beautifully here
- Fold the caviar in gently so the eggs stay intact rather than bursting and turning the dip murky
- Serve with cocktail rye bread, toast points, cucumber rounds, or red bell pepper strips for scooping
- Make it the night before and keep it covered in the fridge; the flavors only improve as they meld
Ingredients
Directions
Beat the cream cheese to a smooth consistency.
Blend in the sour cream and add the remaining ingredients, blending well.
Cover and chill.
Just before serving, garnish with the egg which has been finely chopped.
Makes about 1½ cups of dip.
SUGGESTED DIPPERS: Cocktail Rye Bread, Toast Triangles, Cucumber, Turnips, Red Bell Peppers Strips.
