A bread machine loaf packed with real grated apple, oat bran, and whole wheat flour that fills your kitchen with the smell of cinnamon while it bakes. This is a dense, hearty bread with serious fiber and enough natural sweetness from apple juice, applesauce, and honey that you barely notice how wholesome it is.

The triple apple hit is what makes this loaf stand out from other bread machine recipes. Apple juice provides the liquid, applesauce adds moisture and tenderness, and fresh grated apple gives you actual fruit in every slice. Sunflower seeds add a nutty crunch, and wheat germ brings an earthy depth.

Vital wheat gluten is the smart addition here. With this much bran, oats, and whole wheat in the dough, you need the extra gluten to give the bread enough structure to rise properly in the machine.

Chef Tips

  • Grate the apple on the large holes of a box grater. Too fine and it turns to mush; too chunky and it won’t incorporate into the dough.
