These straightforward dog biscuits use pantry staples like whole wheat flour, powdered milk, and an egg to create crunchy treats that’ll have your dog doing tricks for more.

The dough comes together with hot water or leftover meat juices (for extra flavor your dog will go wild for), then gets rolled and cut into shapes before a long, slow bake that creates that satisfying crunch.

Make a batch on Sunday and store them in an airtight container for healthy, homemade treats all week long.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use leftover chicken or beef broth instead of water for irresistible meaty flavor
  • Roll the dough to exactly ½ inch thick so the biscuits bake evenly and stay crunchy
  • Cut into small shapes for training treats or larger bones for serious chewing sessions
  • Store completely cooled biscuits in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks

Variations

  • Add 2 tablespoons peanut butter to the wet ingredients for peanut butter dog treats
  • Mix in ¼ cup finely grated carrots or sweet potato for added nutrition
  • Swap half the whole wheat flour for oat flour for dogs with wheat sensitivities
