Fresh basil does the heavy lifting in this no-cook party dip.

Softened cream cheese gets whipped smooth with sour cream, then folded together with chopped purple onion, shredded carrots, and a generous handful of fresh basil.

The result is a dip that’s herby, tangy, and just a little sweet from the carrots, with gorgeous purple-and-green flecks throughout.

Set it out with sturdy crackers, thick-cut potato chips, or a platter of raw vegetables and watch it disappear.

  • Make sure the cream cheese is fully softened before mixing. Room temperature cream cheese beats smooth; cold cream cheese stays lumpy.

Directions

Beat the cream cheese to a smooth consistency, gradually adding the basil.
