40 minNo frying. No pastry dough. No stress. Just cannoli filling piped straight into ice cream cones.
This is one of those genius shortcuts that makes kids feel like they’re eating something fancy while you barely break a sweat.
Ricotta gets beaten smooth with powdered sugar, a hint of orange zest, and vanilla, then folded with mini chocolate chips and chilled.
Spoon or pipe it into sugar cones and hand them over. That’s it. Ten minutes of actual work, plus 30 minutes in the fridge.
Let the little ones help with the filling and piping for a kitchen activity that doubles as dessert.
Kitchen Tips
- Use sugar cones, not waffle cones. They’re sturdier and closer to the crunch of a real cannoli shell.
- Pipe the filling with a zip-lock bag with the corner snipped off. Kids can handle this way easier than a spoon.
- Make the filling a day ahead and keep it in the fridge. Assemble right before serving so the cones stay crispy.

To serve, spoon mixture directly into ice-cream cones or into decorating bag without tip and then pipe into cones.
