70 minThere’s a reason this cake has been showing up at church potlucks and family gatherings across the South for decades.
A butter cake mix gets supercharged with sour cream, oil, eggs, and vanilla, making the crumb incredibly moist and rich. But the real surprise is the cinnamon-brown sugar-nut filling layered through the middle that creates a sweet, spiced ribbon running through every slice.
Bake it in a bundt pan for an hour, flip it out, and try not to cut into it before it cools. (You probably will anyway.)
Kitchen Tips
- Add the eggs one at a time and beat after each addition for a smoother, more even batter.
- Spread the filling evenly over the first layer of batter so every slice gets that cinnamon-nut swirl.
- Grease and flour the bundt pan thoroughly. This cake is rich and will stick if you skip this step.
- A simple powdered sugar glaze drizzled over the top takes it from homestyle to showstopper.
