Forget everything you know about boring tuna melts. These crab burgers take the open-face concept and crank it up several notches.

Crab meat, chopped hard-boiled eggs, and grated cheddar get bound together with a punchy sauce made from mayo, ketchup (or barbecue sauce if you’re feeling bold), sweet pickle juice, and a triple hit of celery salt, onion salt, and garlic powder.

Spread thick on hamburger bun halves, slid under the broiler until bubbly and golden, and served piping hot. Twenty minutes, zero fuss.

Pro Tips

  • Spread the mixture all the way to the edges of the bun. This prevents the exposed bread from burning under the broiler while the center heats through.
  • Swap ketchup for barbecue sauce to add a smoky sweetness that pairs especially well with the crab.
  • Sweet pickle juice is the sneaky ingredient that brightens the whole mixture. Don’t leave it out.
