Rolled oats add hearty chew while chocolate chips bring sweetness and melty pockets of chocolate.
The secret is controlling the bake time for your perfect texture.
Chef Tips
- Use quick oats or old-fashioned oats, not instant
- Beat butter and sugars until fluffy for lighter cookies
- Chill the dough if it’s too soft to scoop
- Bake 9 to 10 minutes for chewy centers with soft edges
- Bake 12 to 13 minutes for crispy cookies
- Cool on the pan for 1 minute before transferring
Variations
- Use dark chocolate chips for richer flavor
- Add dried cranberries or raisins for fruity chew
- Swap nuts for coconut flakes for tropical twist
- Stir in a teaspoon of cinnamon for warm spice
