Apple pie with a twist: cinnamon Red Hots melt into the filling with walnuts and a crumbled pie crust topping. Bubbling, spicy-sweet, and utterly irresistible.

1 hrsWhat happens when you toss a handful of cinnamon Red Hots into an apple pie? Pure magic.
The candies melt as the pie bakes, turning into a hot, spicy-sweet cinnamon syrup that coats every apple slice in a glossy red glaze.
Chopped walnuts scattered throughout add crunch and a toasty, earthy contrast to all that candy-apple sweetness.
The topping is genius in its laziness: just crumble the second frozen pie crust into small pieces, toss with sugar, and scatter it over the top for a rustic, craggy finish that bakes up golden and crisp.
Kitchen Tips
- Use a preheated baking sheet under the pie. It helps the bottom crust cook through and catches any drips from the melting candies.
- Cool completely before slicing. The melted candy filling needs time to set, or it’ll run everywhere. This is a test of willpower.
- Thinly slice your apples. Thick slices won’t cook through in time and you’ll end up with crunchy spots in a pie that should be tender.
