This pie takes the traditional apple filling in a richer direction by mixing brown sugar and honey into the cinnamon-coated fruit, then stirring in plump raisins and toasted pecans.

The combination creates layers of sweetness from different sources while the nuts add textural contrast to the tender baked apples. A lattice crust lets steam escape and shows off the chunky filling underneath.

Bake until the filling bubbles thickly through the lattice openings and the crust turns deep golden.

Kitchen Tips

  • Toast pecans lightly before adding to filling for deeper flavor
  • Mix cinnamon-sugar with apples first, then add remaining sweeteners for even coating
  • Slice apples uniformly (about ¼ inch) so they cook at the same rate
  • High heat (425°F) for full baking time creates crisp bottom crust and caramelized filling
