This is wholesome homemade baby food that puts a single meal in a curious toddler’s bowl in literally minutes. Cooked chicken, soft brown rice, fresh ripe peach, and a touch of milk get pulsed in a blender to a chunky-smooth texture that’s protein-rich, fiber-rich, and made from real ingredients you can pronounce. Compared to commercial jarred baby food, the flavor is brighter and the texture more satisfying for early eaters working on chewing.

The technique notes are short. Pulse the ingredients to whatever texture suits your child’s stage: smoother for a six-month-old just starting solids, chunkier for a ten-month-old learning to chew. Wheat germ is the small but powerful detail. It adds folate, vitamin E, magnesium, and zinc without any noticeable taste, turning a simple chicken-and-fruit meal into a complete one. Use ripe peaches; underripe fruit tastes sour and grainy and won’t blend smoothly. Brown rice gives more fiber than white. Cook it until very tender so it purees cleanly.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use freshly cooked, lukewarm chicken. Cold chicken from the fridge gives the puree a clammy, fatty texture.
  • Skin and pit the peach completely. Peach skin gets stringy in a blender and is hard for small mouths.
  • Use whole milk for babies over 12 months. Use breastmilk or formula for younger infants.
  • Make small batches and freeze in ice cube trays. One cube equals roughly one toddler portion.

Variations

  • Substitute pear, apple, or banana for the peach.
  • Use cooked sweet potato or butternut squash in place of brown rice for a different starch.
  • Stir in a tiny pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg (no honey under age one) once the baby is on a wider diet.
