My Mother's Sugar Cookies

These are better than ordinary sugar cookies because of the flavoring.

Ingredients

1/2 cup butter
1 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon light cream
2 1/2 cups flour, all-purpose
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

Cream butter and sugar.

Beat in eggs and cream.

Add flour sifted with baking powder, salt and nutmeg.

Then add lemon juice and vanilla, and mix well.

Chill dough for at least an hour.

Roll out thin on a floured board, cut with cookie cutters, and bake at 350 degrees F for about 8 minutes until golden.

Do not let cookies get too brown.

Decorate with colored sugar, raisins, nuts, pieces of candied fruit or as desired.

Crock-Pot Spaghetti Sauce
