30 minThese are not your average chocolate chip cookies. Orange juice and fresh zest go right into the dough alongside brown sugar and semi-sweet chips, creating a cookie that’s warm, citrusy, and deeply chocolatey all at once.
The real move is the glaze. As soon as the cookies come off the baking sheet, you brush them with a quick mixture of powdered sugar, orange juice, and a splash of Grand Marnier (or Triple Sec, or Cointreau, or just more OJ if you prefer). The glaze soaks into the warm cookie and sets into a shiny, slightly sweet shell.
Makes about 3 dozen, so there’s plenty to share. Or not.
Kitchen Tips
- Bake one sheet at a time for even browning and consistent texture
- Brush the glaze on immediately while the cookies are still hot so it absorbs and sets properly
- Space the dough 3 inches apart; these spread more than you’d expect thanks to the orange juice in the batter
- Skip the liqueur and double the orange juice in the glaze for a kid-friendly version
