50 minTic-tac-toe meets the cookie jar. These hand-shaped chocolate cookies spell out hugs and kisses, making them a hit for Valentine’s Day, school parties, or any time you want to bake with the kids.
The cocoa dough is buttery and easy to work with. Roll it into logs, cross two for an X, or bend one into a ring for an O. Five minutes in the oven and they’re done.
Decorate with colored icing, sprinkles, or leave them plain. Five dozen cookies means plenty to share and plenty to snack on while you decorate.
Kitchen Tips
- Chill the dough until it’s firm enough to handle. Warm dough sticks and loses its shape.
- Roll the logs on a lightly floured surface to keep them smooth and even.
- These bake fast, just 5 minutes. Set a timer because the line between done and overdone is thin.
- Press the X crosspieces gently together in the center so they hold during baking.
