Two ingredients. Five minutes. Infinite uses.

Melt butter in a skillet, stir in fine dry bread crumbs, and you’ve got a golden, crunchy topping ready to elevate just about anything.

Scatter them over mac and cheese before baking. Sprinkle on casseroles for a crispy crust. Toss with pasta for a classic Italian-style finish.

This is one of those fundamental building blocks every home cook should have in their back pocket.

Kitchen Tips

  • Use low heat when melting the butter to avoid browning it (unless you want a nuttier flavor)
  • For extra crunch, toast the crumbs in the butter over medium heat for 2-3 minutes, stirring constantly
  • Add garlic powder, herbs, or Parmesan to customize them for specific dishes
