4 minThis turkey breast recipe uses a simple overnight brine to ensure the meat stays moist through the long slow cooker session.
Soaking in salt water is the secret to juicy turkey because it allows the meat to absorb moisture and seasoning before cooking even starts.
Sliced onions on the bottom of the crockpot create a natural rack that keeps the breast elevated while adding sweet flavor to the cooking liquid.
Garlic powder and paprika rubbed liberally over the surface build a flavorful crust as the turkey cooks.
Slow Cooker Tips
- Thaw turkey completely in the fridge before brining or you won’t get even salt penetration
- Pat turkey very dry after brining so seasonings stick instead of sliding off
- Cook on high for 4.5 hours rather than low to ensure the skin renders and the meat cooks through without becoming mushy
