Two pounds of ground beef mixed with dry onion soup mix and fresh bread crumbs gets shaped into a single enormous 9-inch patty, broiled until firm, then loaded onto a hollowed-out round of sourdough bread with lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickle chips.
Slice it into wedges like a pizza and serve it up at your next cookout or game day party.
Kids lose their minds over this thing.
Pro Tips
- Hollow out the top half of the bread to make room for the patty; save those crumbs for the meat mixture
- Use two wide pancake turners or spatulas to transfer the cooked patty onto the bread without it breaking apart
- Let the dry onion soup mix soak in the water for 5 minutes before mixing with the beef so it softens and distributes evenly
- Serve with ketchup, mustard, and mayo on the side so everyone can customize their wedge
