25 minIn the Arab world, dates and coffee go hand in hand. This elegant little treat takes that pairing to the next level.
Plump Madinah dates come stuffed with almonds, then rolled in freshly toasted sesame seeds for a nutty, golden crunch on the outside.
Arrange them on a tray and serve alongside a pot of gahwa (Arabic coffee) for an authentic touch of Middle Eastern hospitality.
With just two ingredients, this is less a recipe and more a time-honored tradition you can bring to your own table.
Kitchen Tips
- Toast the sesame seeds over low heat and stir constantly; they go from golden to burnt in seconds
- Medjool dates make a good substitute if you can’t find Madinah dates
