25 minThis vintage molded salmon ring brings back the elegance of mid-century entertaining with surprisingly modern convenience.
Flake canned salmon with bread crumbs, egg, and a hint of curry, then microwave in a ring pan until set and springy.
The dill cream sauce, also made in the microwave, adds richness and fresh herb brightness that cuts through the savory fish.
Unmold onto a platter, fill the center with sauce or salad, and serve this retro showstopper at potlucks or casual dinner parties.
Chef Tips
- Ring pan essential: The shape allows even microwave cooking and creates that impressive presentation when unmolded.
- Don’t overdrain: Keep some salmon liquid for moisture since microwaving can dry out lean fish.
- Make sauce smooth: Whisk the dill sauce every 1 to 2 minutes during cooking to prevent lumps and ensure silky texture.
